Review: Ginja is serving up a lip-smacking Prawn platter for 2.

Updated: Dec 15, 2020

Cape Town peeps add this to your "must do list." We maybe socially distancing but this platter for two is worth the venturing out of hibernation.

I was invited to Ginja to indulge in their scrumptious Prawn Platter for two.

Consisting of 16 queen prawns, crispy fries, toasted ciabatta, a table salad and a bottle of delish Iona Sauvignon Blanc. Priced at only R550! Now this is the bargain we have all been waiting for!

This deal ends on 31 March 20201. So, do not waste time, get your tail into gear and book a table.

Ginja Restaurant situated at the Victoria & Alfred Hotel at the V&A Waterfront Cape Town is the perfect setting for a lazy afternoon meal. Their location is one of the best in cape Town. Sitting on their deck we had a postcard view of the iconic Table Mountain. Take in the sights and sounds of the working harbour.

I decided to spoil my Mother-in-law to a meal. Yes, I was trying to earn brownie points. (Thanks, Ginja!)

She is a big fan of seafood and this was just up her alley.

Service:

From the moment we arrived in the parking lot of the Victoria & Alfred Hotel we were treated like royalty.

I was impressed that the Hotel and Restaurant had extremely strict COVID-19 policy in place and that it was enforced. Masks were worn by all Patrons and Staff. Hands were sanitised on entry, screening of temperatures were taken. We were shown to our table by the friendly Hostess.

All the tables are spaced far apart to allow for social distancing to occur.

Our Waiter Simon was the highlight of our lunch. Special Shout out to Simon, I would return for a meal and request Simon as my waiter. He was so friendly and lovely to us. He explained the menu, drinks options and how the special worked.

Simon was truly knowledgeable about the menu and the general goings on of the Harbour. His service was top-notch, being attentive but not intrusive.

Service was on point though out our meal.

Food & Wine:

The prawns were perfectly cooked, the sauce was so good we mopped it up with the toasted Ciabatta. Perfectly cooked crispy fires, deliciously salad with tons of fresh ingredients and a bottle of Iona Sauvignon Blanc to wash it all down.

This meal was outstanding. This is such an incredible deal, at R500.00 for all the food and a bottle of wine. There is now way we could have finished this meal.

The other food on offer on the menu comprises a wide selection of dishes, inspired by various cuisine styles, to satisfy all palates.

Atmosphere:

The contempory atmosphere is relaxed but chic. Ginja is the perfect meeting place for a cup of coffee and cake with colleagues, a meal with family, or a sundowner with friends – and now a date night!

Being just a stones throw away from the watersedge, we delighted in watching seals playing, seagulls, boats getting repaired or on their way out of the harbour and general chatter of people was a sublime way to whittle away the hours. It reminded me a bit of a trip to Monte Carlo. Maybe that is an idea for those of us who long to travel. Book at table at Ginja and pretend you are in a European City Harbour!
