Book Review:Sometimes I lie by Alice Feeney

My name is Amber Reynolds. There are three things you should know about me: 1. I’m in a coma. 2. My husband doesn’t love me anymore. 3. Sometimes I lie.

This is how the book begins. Intrigue from the very start!

Amber is in hospital in a coma. She cant move or open her eyes. She can hear everything that is happening around her. She cant remember how she ended up in the hospital.

The book is written in three tenses. The Now ( present), the week before her accident and the past which is presented in the form of childhood diary entries.

The book is a fabulous psychological thriller that makes you question everything. Is Amber telling the truth? Or is it her version of the Truth, maybe she is lying to herself…

You continuously question what is the truth and what is a lie.

A terrible "accident" happened when Amber and her sister Claire were young. This sets off a sequence of events that haunts them in their adulthood.

Some parts are shocking but the book is for sure a page turner!

Book Club thoughts:

Everyone seemed to like this book. It is a page turner that had a few of us reading until the early hours of the morning. If you like suspense and psychological thrillers, then this is definitely a book to add to your reading list.

I really enjoyed the characters and how you have to keep asking yourself “who is the liar?, Did this really happen?”

There are parts of the book that are disturbing. I heard that the book maybe made into a Television Miniseries. I can see this would work and be great for television.

I did find some scenes unnecessary and a bit convoluted.

I'm excited to read more from Alice Feeney, she has a unique way of writing.

This book got a thumbs up from The Book Club ladies.

Sometimes I lie, is available in Paperback , Kindle and in Audio-book format.
