Bio-Oil Dry Skin Gel – Initial Thoughts
Do you suffer from dry skin? It’s a problem that I never used to suffer from, however, in the last two years (maybe hormones from pregnancy with my daughter) my hands, heels, and elbows have taken on a reptilian appeal. So, when I got the opportunity to review the new Bio-Oil Dry Skin Gel, I jumped at it!
Bio-Oil is a well know and trusted brand and I used the oil during my pregnancy. I often believe that I don’t stretch marks because of using Bio-Oil. With summer on its way, I can’t wait to wear my summer dresses and expose some skin to sunlight!
A bit about the product:
What’s so great about the Bio-Oil Dry Skin Gel? It is a concentrated oil-based gel. Its made from 97% skin-nourishing oils and active ingredients, 3 % water opposed to other skin creams that contain almost 70% water. Water evaporates when it comes in contact with your skin, so this has no actual benefit to moisturisation. The lost moisture cannot be replaced by putting moisture on your skin, skins' moisture comes from within – this is why staying hydrated by drinking water is so important.
By containing only 3 % water and the rest of the formulation being made up of skin-nourishing oils, they have created a product that effectively targets and treats dry skin.
The gel works with your skin to retain moisture, making it go further and longer-lasting moisturisation. Bio-Oil Dry Skin Gel is clinically proven to target and treat dry skin by providing immediate relief, and intense, long -lasting moisturisation. This breakthrough formulation effectively restores dry skin by nourishing and conditioning it. Skin recognizes oil and therefore allows it to be absorbed.
I have been using the Bio-Oil Dry Skin Gel for just over a week .
You only have to use a small amount of the gel to see results. I have been using it on my cuticles daily and I have seen results. I had such dry cuticles that it made getting manicures painful.
The oil is absorbed quickly into the skin. However, it is very oily (duhhhh) so wipe your hands clean after application or else there will be fingerprints on your iPad screen and other metallic surfaces.
The smell of the gel is inoffensive and subtle, I’m not a fan of scented products. The pink gel is actually rather pretty and once on your skin is transparent.
Bio-Oil Dry Skin Gel is available nationwide from: Clicks, Dis-Chem, Checkers, Shoprite, The Independent Pharmacy and Pick N Pay.
Looking forward to using this product for a while longer. Keep an eye out for a full review
